All candidates cross-filed to appear on both party ballots, with the exception of Stephen Nelson, who appeared only on the Republican ballot
Voters will see two full slates of candidates vying for four open seats on the Souderton Area School Board this November, as Tuesday’s primary election results revealed a clear split along party lines.
According to unofficial tallies from Montgomery County’s Department of Voter Services, the Souderton Area for Responsible Leadership team secured the Democratic nominations, while the Keep Souderton Strong team claimed victory on the Republican side.
Representing the Souderton Area for Responsible Leadership are four newcomers: Alexandra Wisser, Corinne DeGeiso, Rosemary Buetikofer, and Andrew Souchet. On the Republican ticket, three current board members — Andrew Landis, Stephen Nelson, and Janet Flisak — are joined by newcomer Steve Long under the Keep Souderton Strong banner.
All candidates cross-filed to appear on both party ballots, with the exception of Nelson, who appeared only on the Republican ballot.
Wisser led the Democratic vote with 2,991 ballots cast in her favor, followed closely by DeGeiso (2,976), Buetikofer (2,913), and Souchet (2,659).
On the Republican side, Landis received the highest number of votes with 3,234, followed by Nelson (3,151), Flisak (3,103), and Long (3,085).
These results remain unofficial until certified by the Montgomery County Board of Elections. Voters will make the final decision in the general election this November, where the two teams will compete head-to-head for control of the school board.
